2023 Moonbeam Bronze Medal for Best Children's Book Series, Non-Fiction

“Saddle up and fall in love with Rudy as he shares his experiences and feelings about his adventures, and the people and animals he meets along the way. Rudy’s charismatic personality captures hearts, and you’ll long to know “what happens next?” Plus, you’ll learn a lot too! The books are filled with tons of information about horses, magical illustrations,
and fun horse facts.” ~Blaze Magazine June 2021

Rudy, the lovable horse from the popular children's book Rudy – A Big Horse with a Big Heart, is back in Rudy2 – Trailers, Pigs, and New Friends. Like the first book, Rudy tells the story from his point of view.

In Rudy 2, Rudy moves to a new stable where he struggles to fit in with a new herd and is bullied. He reaffirms that he dislikes trailers, learns that pigs are terrifying, and meets a new horse who becomes a good friend.

The book features an equine glossary, horse anatomy, and 20 Fun Horse Facts. Ages 5-11. Illustrated by Karen Busch Holman.

Diane Robbins Jones
Author Bio

Jones had no intention of buying a horse, even though she had dreamt of owning one since she was young. Through a series of fortunate events, she bought Rudy for a dollar. Without formal knowledge of horse ownership, she dove headfirst into her life's most significant joy and challenge. After working with Rudy for a year, something clicked in Jones. A story started flowing through her, begging to be shared. The Rudy the Rudster book series was born. Jones's writing goals were to make Rudy relatable to children by sharing his feelings about his experiences. She also is keen to educate kids on all things horse.
Jones lives in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. She is an animal lover and passionate about protecting the environment. She frequently enjoys her time off in northern Vermont and is an avid downhill skier.
