Description

Discourses on the transformative power of music, now brought to life for a new generation.
Music has long been an important part of Sufi culture and practice, and Hazrat Inayat Khan’s musical qualifications are well known. He became a professor of music at an early age and subsequently won laurels throughout India for his performances. The lectures in this volume, “The Mysticism of Sound,” “Music,” “The Power of the Word,” and “Cosmic Language,” represent the harvest of Inayat Khan’s lifelong cultivation of the transformative power of music and sound. For decades, these fascinating discourses have provided inspiration to Sufi practitioners and dedicated musicians alike, and this new edition aims to bring Inayat Khan’s philosophy of music to a new generation.
