David D. Corbett is a nationally recognized authority on creating meaningful alternatives to retirement, in particular, how individuals and society must come to grips with the 20- to 25-year bonus of active, healthy years that may be in their futures. Corbett is the founder of New Directions, Inc., on Boston’s historic waterfront, which offered planning in career and post-career fulfillment to accomplished individuals. He was a frequent speaker on life transitions to audiences that included executive forums, business school groups, as well as legal, medical, and human resources professionals. Corbett has been quoted in national publications including The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. He is the author of Portfolio Life: The New Path to Work, Purpose, and Passion After 50, published by John Wiley & Sons. Corbett earned a BA from Northwestern University, an MBA from New York University, and he’s a veteran of the US Navy. He is an adviser to the MIT AgeLab, a trustee of the U.S.S. Constitution Museum and Andover-Newton Theological School.
