Murky mirrors, deceptive will-o’-the-wisps, dryads who know not what they are, wings born from the sting of punishment, keys that bind bodies, the charm of springs that glow with a false fire, girls sharp with thorns, wishes granted and burdened by the weight of death, people who are anything but human and humans who are not quite people…. Everything has a place in the Deep Forest, a perhaps infinite realm inhabited by all that lives within us without our consent, and where there is nothing more terrifying than a “forever and ever.”
Madrid, 1978. She is a writer, with more than thirty publications. Her work has been translated into various languages. She frequents festivals and conventions for literature of the fantasy genre.
She has published poetry books: Las flores de alcohol (La bella Varsovia, 2005), Química (El gaviero, 2000), Otra explicación para el temblor de las hojas (Premio Zaidín de Poesía Javier Egea. Ayuntamiento de Granada, 2007), Alicia Volátil (Cangrejo Pistolero, 2010), Bestiario microscópico (Sportula, 2012), La simiente de la luz (Lapsus Calami, 2014) y La belleza de la bestia (Lapsus Calami, 2015), and the children’s poetry book, Adivinanzas con beso para las buenas noches (Alfaguara, 2014).
Her narrative works include: the young reader’s fantasy novels Flores de sombra (Alfaguara, 2011) and its sequel Savia Negra; numerous children’s books, including El picaro Nasrudin (Loquelo, 2016), Cuentos y leyendas de objetos mágicos (Anaya, 2001), La Calle Andersen (coauthored by Marian Womach. La Galera, 2014), Olivia Shakespeare (Edelvives, 2014), and Cómo tener ideas (Narval, 2016); the children’s series Krippys (Montena), El joven Moriarty (translated in various languages, mentioned by Banco del Libro de Venezuela. Fábulas de Albión, 2013-2015), and Los hermanos Mozart (Disquesí Ediciones, 2015). She was awarded the Spirit of Dedication prize in 2016 by the European Science Fiction Society for her work in children’s literature.
Her adult novels include Róndola. She was awarded the Premio Celcius in 2017 in the category of Best Science Fiction and Fantasy Novel (Minotauro, 2016) and Espérame en la última página (Plaza y Janés, 2017).
