This first book of Cuban American artist Ofill Echevarría (La Habana, 1972) is presented in collaboration with Un-Gyve Limited. Debuting as a member of Grupo Arte Calle in 1988, a graduate of la Academia San Alejandro, Ofill Echevarría has since exhibited his work in galleries and museums internationally. He lives and works in New York City, the urban reality of which is vividly depicted in EL MUNDO DE LOS VIVOS | THE REAL WORLD.
Born in Havana, Cuba, 1972, Ofill Echevarria attended the Octubre Elementary School of Art, Havana, Cuba, and graduated San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts, Havana, Cuba, 1991. He co-founded the performance collaborative Arte Calle Group (1986-1988) Havana, Cuba. Having lived in Mexico, D.F., from 1992 to 2002, the artist now lives and works in New York City. Since his debut solo exhibit in La Habana (Industria Plastica, Galeria Rene Portocarrero, La Habana, 1991), his works have been widely presented in galleries and institutions throughout Mexico and the United States, and, represented by Alfredo Ginocchio Arte Internacional, have been exhibited throughout the world. His works can be found in the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes and the Centro de Desarrollo de las Artes Visuales, La Habana; the Museo de Arte Moderno, Mexico, D.F.; the Museo de Oaxaca; the Museo del Centro Nacional de las Artes, Monterrey; the Merrill Lynch Bank and the MOLAA Museum, Los Angeles.
