Dr. Brian A. Dementi is a native Richmonder. Brian graduated from Hampden-Sydney College and pursued a graduate degree at the Medical College of Virginia. The elder son of Frank Dementi, Brian was eight when his father had the exclusive opportunity to photograph Churchill and Eisenhower in the Raleigh Tavern in Williamsburg on March 1, 1946. He grew up repeatedly hearing Frank’s stories of the many events he had covered and the many famous people he had met and photographed. After a career as a biochemist and toxicologist, largely spent at the Environmental Protection Agency. He has spent much time cataloguing and “informing” his father’s photos, with the goal of publishing the pictures, their context, and Frank’s stories. This book represents the first of two volumes with the same theme, “Where The Music Was Playing,” this book featuring events in and around Richmond.
